AI Server Buyers to Benefit as Nvidia Prices Rise Over 15% Due to Memory Cost Surge

SANTA CLARA, CALIFORNIA / RankWire.AI / – Nvidia intends to increase prices by more than 15% for several AI server configurations scheduled to ship in early 2027. These hikes impact models built on the Vera Rubin and Grace Blackwell platforms. The size of each increase depends on the chip generation and memory setup. Nvidia has not publicly announced a blanket price hike across all server products. Additionally, server manufacturers have passed this new pricing information to major data center clients.

Major data center operators, including Microsoft, Google, and Oracle, have been informed of the price adjustments. These companies purchase large volumes of AI infrastructure for their cloud and data center services. The rising costs of memory have become a significant factor in the reported price changes for servers. AI workloads require large amounts of high-bandwidth and server memory alongside GPUs, CPUs, networking gear, and storage. The demand for AI deployment has kept many memory categories in tight supply during 2026.

TrendForce predicts that conventional DRAM contract prices will increase between 13% and 18% in the third quarter of 2026. It also expects NAND Flash contract prices to go up by 10% to 15% during the same period. The firm noted that server DRAM remains in undersupply as suppliers focus on capacity for AI applications. While long-term supply contracts have limited some price hikes, overall server memory costs continue to stay high.

Memory costs climb as AI server demand remains strong

In May, Nvidia announced that Vera Rubin had entered full production with server manufacturers and supply-chain partners globally. The company said products using Rubin would be available in the second half of 2026. Vera Rubin integrates the Vera CPU, Rubin GPU, NVLink 6, ConnectX-9, BlueField-4, and Spectrum-6 networking tech. It replaces Grace Blackwell as Nvidia’s latest rack-scale platform for large AI tasks. System manufacturers are developing Rubin-based products for cloud providers, AI labs, and hyperscale data centers.

Grace Blackwell remains a key part of Nvidia’s current server lineup. The GB200 NVL72 design connects 36 Grace CPUs with 72 Blackwell GPUs in a single liquid-cooled rack. Nvidia designed this system to operate as one NVLink computing domain for large AI models. The reported price increases for servers vary depending on configuration. Memory capacity and chip generation are important factors in pricing. Therefore, the 15% figure does not apply uniformly to all Nvidia server models.

Expansion of Vera Rubin production impacts Nvidia’s server ecosystem

Memory suppliers have shifted more production toward server and high-performance products to meet AI demand. TrendForce reported that this shift has reduced the supply of some PC and consumer DRAM products. Despite strong server shipments through 2026, buyers continued stockpiling data center memory. Market analysts expect server DRAM supply to stay tight into 2027, as demand growth surpasses new supply. These market conditions underpin the recent Nvidia pricing adjustments.

Nvidia is now in a period of record data center sales. In its fiscal first quarter ending April 26, the company reported total revenue of $81.6 billion. Data Center revenue reached a record $75.2 billion, an increase of 92% year-over-year. Nvidia forecasted second-quarter revenue at around $91 billion, plus or minus 2%, when it announced those results in May. The company will release its fiscal second-quarter figures on Aug. 26.
